Description

Oeksound soothe2: Dynamic Resonance Suppressor

Oeksound soothe2 is the dynamic resonance suppressor that finds and tames harsh, ringing frequencies automatically, with no notching by hand. It rebuilds the 2016 release with a new algorithm, around 40% lower CPU, and a range that now reaches the low end too. Mixing and mastering engineers reach for it on vocals, guitars, cymbals and busses. One purchase covers Mac and Windows.

What’s Inside Oeksound soothe2

  • Dynamic resonance suppression: it reduces only the frequencies that spike, so nearby tones stay untouched.
  • Soft and Hard modes: Soft treats most sources transparently; Hard bites harder on stubborn resonance.
  • Depth, Sharpness and Selectivity: set how much it cuts, how narrow each cut is, and which resonances get targeted.
  • Attack and Release: slow the reaction to pass a snare transient, or turn soothe2 into a tonal balancer.
  • Node-based dynamic EQ: draw bands with shelving, tilting and notch shapes across the spectrum.
  • Mid/side and left/right: run the whole plug-in or one band in M/S or L/R, with free stereo weighting.
  • External sidechain: duck one source against another’s spectral footprint to carve room for a vocal.

Who Is Oeksound soothe2 For?

Vocal producers lean on it first, and in our own mixes that’s where it earns its keep — soothe 2 for vocals is close to the cleanest de-essing you can get without dulling the top, taming sibilance and proximity in one move. Mixing engineers run it on electric guitars, cymbals and group busses to smooth harsh upper-mids. Mastering engineers shave resonances off a finished track without flattening its energy, and post editors even out rough dialogue.

Formats and Compatibility

The soothe 2 VST, VST3, AU and AAX builds are all 64-bit, so every current DAW loads at least one. It runs in Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, Cubase, Studio One and Pro Tools 11 and up. macOS is supported from 10.13 High Sierra to macOS 15 Sequoia on Intel and Apple Silicon; Windows covers 7 through 11 (64-bit, no ARM). One purchase installs on both platforms and activates through a free iLok account — no dongle needed.

System Requirements

  • macOS: 10.13 High Sierra to macOS 15 Sequoia, Intel or Apple Silicon
  • Windows: 7, 8, 10 or 11, 64-bit host (no ARM)
  • Formats: 64-bit VST, VST3, AU (Mac) and AAX (Pro Tools 11 and up)
  • Activation: iLok account and the free iLok software; online once, then offline; two machines per purchase
  • Latency: around 45 ms in the default mode

How Producers Use Oeksound soothe2

On a lead vocal, most engineers set Soft mode, push Depth until the harshness drops, then pull Sharpness back to catch only the ringing esses — soothe2 de-esses without a separate plug-in. Pop and R&B mixers switch it to sidechain mode over a busy instrumental so the beat ducks around the vocal. Rock and metal engineers park it on cymbal overheads and guitar busses, then reach for Oeksound spiff when a snare needs its attack back. On the master bus this dynamic resonance suppressor shaves 2–3 dB off a harsh region, and mid/side mode treats a boxy centre while leaving the sides open.

Questions Producers Ask

What does Soothe 2 actually do?

It automatically finds and reduces harsh, ringing resonances in real time. soothe2 drops the frequencies that spike and leaves the rest of the tone intact, so you get a smoother sound without hand-notching an EQ. It works on single tracks, busses and full masters.

Is Soothe 2 good for vocals?

Yes — vocals are what it’s best known for. As a de-esser, soothe2 controls sibilance and upper-mid harshness without the lisp a hard de-esser leaves behind, and the sidechain lets you duck a busy beat around the vocal. In practice, plenty of engineers leave it on the vocal bus all the way to the master.

Is Soothe 2 free?

No — soothe2 is a paid plug-in, but Oeksound offers a fully featured 20-day trial so you can test it on your own mixes first. There’s no cut-down free edition; the trial is the full plug-in, and the full version is a one-off purchase for Mac and Windows.
