Description
Arturia Pigments 7: The Flagship Hybrid Synth Refined
Arturia Pigments 7 landed in December 2025 as a character-focused refinement of the flagship hybrid synth — new filters, a new distortion effect, a redesigned Play page, and amplitude envelope optimisations that reduce clicks and sharpen attacks. Free upgrade for existing owners, €99 for new buyers. Pigments 7 is the version to buy in 2026.
What’s Inside
- Six synthesis engines: analog virtual, wavetable, sample-based, harmonic, granular, and modal — combine any two per patch
- Three new filters in version 7: Rage (distortion feedback filter with Diode, Distortion, Softclip, Tape, Transistor modes), Ripple (all-pass filter chain with three intensities), Reverb Filter (short reverb for tonal weight)
- New Corroder effect: degradation-focused distortion with frequency, bandwidth, stereo, drive controls plus mix-in noise and FM modulation
- Redesigned Play Page: quick-edit controls with responsive animations per sound type
- Amplitude envelope optimisation: reduces unwanted clicks, sharpens attack for percussive sounds and bass
- Drag-and-drop modulation matrix: assign any modulator to any parameter by dragging
- Generative sequencing: probability, rhythm and pitch generators drive melodic patterns
- Deep effects section: reverb, delay, chorus, phaser, distortion, EQ, compression per patch
- MPE support: full expression on Roli Seaboard, LinnStrument, Osmose and other MPE controllers
Who Is It For?
Producers who want a modern hybrid synth that goes deep on modulation and sound design without turning into a modular puzzle. Sound designers exploring granular, wavetable and modal engines in the same patch. Bedroom producers who want one synth that covers pads, basses, leads and percussive sounds without preset-hopping across five plugins. Film and TV composers using Pigments as the go-to for evolving cinematic textures. Anyone tired of preset-hopping across dedicated wavetable and analog synths who wants one plugin that covers both.
System Requirements
- macOS 11 or higher, 64-bit, Apple Silicon native
- Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit)
- Formats: VST, VST3, AU, AAX, Standalone
What’s New in Pigments 7
The three new filters headline the release. Rage introduces filter-based distortion with five different circuit models — Diode for cleaner bite, Distortion for aggressive drive, Softclip for smoother saturation, Tape for warmth, Transistor for classic analog grit. Ripple stacks multiple all-pass filters for ringing, zappy phase artifacts across three intensities. The Reverb filter adds tiny reverb tails that modify timbre rather than adding space. Corroder is a new distortion effect leaning toward heavy degradation with mix-in noise and FM. The Play Page has been redesigned with responsive per-sound-type visualisations, and the amplitude envelope was optimised to reduce clicks and sharpen attack transients.
How Producers Use Arturia Pigments 7
Trap producers set a wavetable oscillator through the Rage filter in Transistor mode for aggressive lead sounds that cut through modern hip-hop mixes. Ambient composers layer the granular engine with the modal engine and use Ripple filter with the subtle intensity for evolving pad textures. Film composers pick the harmonic engine with the Reverb filter for organic cinematic swells. House and techno producers use the generative sequencer with the analog virtual engine for evolving bassline patterns. See our synthesizer plugins collection for related tools.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Pigments 7 worth upgrading from Pigments 6?
Free upgrade for existing owners, so the answer is yes by default — the three new filters and Corroder alone justify installing the update. The amplitude envelope optimisations are also audible on percussive and bass patches. If you don’t own Pigments yet, buy version 7 directly rather than an older version.
How does Pigments 7 compare to Serum or Vital?
Different scope. Serum focuses tightly on wavetable synthesis with strong wavetable editing. Vital gives you wavetable and FM at a lower price. Pigments 7 covers six synthesis engines including granular, harmonic and modal, plus deeper modulation and generative sequencing. Producers who want the widest sonic palette in one synth pick Pigments. Producers focused specifically on wavetable often pick Serum.
Does Pigments 7 work on Apple Silicon?
Yes. Native Apple Silicon build. Runs on M1, M2, M3, M4 and M5 Macs without Rosetta. The version 7 CPU improvements make heavier patches roughly 15-20% lighter than Pigments 6 on the same hardware.
Combine Pigments 7 with Arturia V Collection 11 Pro for the complete Arturia synth and keyboard suite.
