Description

Logic Pro 11: Apple’s Flagship DAW With AI Session Players

Logic Pro 11 is Apple’s professional DAW for Mac, released May 13 2024. Version 11 added AI-powered Session Players (Bass Player and Keyboard Player joining the existing Drummer), Stem Splitter (four-way audio separation into Drums, Bass, Vocals and Other), and ChromaGlow (hardware saturation modelled from classic studio hardware). Native Apple Silicon required for Stem Splitter — Intel Macs run Logic Pro 11 but not the AI features.

What’s Inside Logic Pro 11

  • Session Players — Bass Player: AI-powered bass generator with eight different virtual bassists trained collaboratively with real players, follows your chord progressions
  • Session Players — Keyboard Player: AI-powered keyboard accompaniment following defined chord progressions with realistic performance
  • Drummer: the AI-powered drummer feature from earlier Logic Pro versions, refined in Logic Pro 11
  • Stem Splitter: AI-powered four-way audio separation — Drums, Bass, Vocals, Other — requires M-series Apple Silicon
  • ChromaGlow: hardware saturation modelling with five styles for warmth, presence and punch
  • Alchemy synthesiser: the deep multi-engine synthesiser with additive, spectral, granular and virtual analog
  • Sampler and Quick Sampler: professional sampling with time and pitch manipulation
  • Space Designer: convolution reverb with over 1,000 impulse responses
  • Multi-touch Trackpad and MIDI controller support: full Apple integration

Who Is It For?

Mac users who want a professional DAW with deep Apple integration. Songwriters and producers who want AI-powered Session Players as accompaniment for solo composition. Film and TV composers who use Alchemy and Space Designer for cinematic scoring. Podcasters and audio editors using the audio editing tools. Producers building tracks solo who benefit from the Bass Player and Keyboard Player replacing the need for a live band.

System Requirements

  • macOS 13.5 or higher (Mac only — no Windows version)
  • M-series Apple Silicon Mac required for Stem Splitter AI feature
  • Intel Macs run Logic Pro 11 but without Stem Splitter
  • 6 GB free disk space minimum, up to 72 GB for full sound library
  • 8 GB RAM minimum

How Producers Use Logic Pro 11

Songwriters use Session Players — Bass Player, Keyboard Player and Drummer — to build full-band arrangements from a solo composition without hiring musicians. Film composers layer Alchemy synth patches with Session Player accompaniment for evolving cinematic pieces. Pop producers use Stem Splitter to isolate vocal takes from reference tracks for sample-and-flip production. Podcasters use the Multi-track audio editing for interview cleanup. Beat makers reach for the Drummer with hip-hop kits for programmed drums that feel human. See our Logic Pro templates collection for related content.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an M-series Mac for Logic Pro 11?

Intel Macs run Logic Pro 11 but not the AI-powered Stem Splitter feature. Session Players run on both Intel and Apple Silicon. If Stem Splitter matters to you, you need M1, M2, M3, M4 or M5. If you can live without it, Intel Macs work for the DAW itself.

Can I use Logic Pro 11 on Windows?

No. Logic Pro is Apple’s macOS-only DAW. If you produce on Windows, look at FL Studio, Ableton Live, Cubase, Studio One or REAPER — all cross-platform.

What’s the difference between Session Players and Drummer?

Drummer has been in Logic Pro since version 10.1 (2014). Logic Pro 11 adds Bass Player and Keyboard Player to complete the trio — you now have AI-powered drums, bass and keys following your chord progressions. Together they replace the need for a live band on solo demos.
